Dorow's where Homemade made simple
My love for bakery started at my early childhood. My grandmother is good at cooking and baking and she used to make “Caramel Custard” for us. The pudding itself was not too sweet and the caramel is a bit bitter. The aroma of the caramel in your mouth is beyond words. Until these days, I’ve been looking for caramel custard whenever in the U.S. or in Thailand, but nothing came close to my grandmother’s. It’s amazing that the taste of something can bring back such good memories. I still remember the day I tried to make caramel custard for the first time from the recipe found in the Internet. It came to my surprise that the taste of the caramel is so close to my grandmother. Overall, not bad considering it’s the first try. I must say that if you’re looking for a beautiful cake with a lot of frosting and pretty decorations, this might not be for you. We’re “homemade”. I bake for my family and friends. I’m not an artist. I used simple ingredients but of good quality. I personally don’t like huge frosting on the cake which can be covered the true taste of the cake itself.
In case you’re wondering, I didn’t go to a famous bakery school. I first learned how to bake on TV food network (US). Today, I learned from youtube and Pinterest. But mostly, I learned from my feelings, mistakes, criticism and suggestions. Happiness for me is not from money I earned from selling my bakery. It’s when I run my hands through flour and feel it’s so soft and smooth as silk. It’s the smell of cinnamon cake all over my kitchen. And it’s the moment when someone took a bite into a piece of scones or bread and their eyes are light up. I wish the smell of the bakery in my kitchen will find wherever you are. Welcome to my kitchen where “Homemade Made Simple”.
